Arsenio Hall is the recent winner of “Celebrity Apprentice”.
Most people predicted that from the win, Arsenio Hall could receive a chance to
return to late night. Those people were right. According to “Nearly 20 years later, Arsenio Hall is Returning to Late-Night TV” by Bill Carter of
latimes.com, “Mr. Hall and partners that include CBS Television Distribution
and stations owned by the Tribune Company announced on Monday that they had
agreed to introduce a late-night show starring Mr. Hall in the fall of 2013”.
“The Arsenio Hall Show” ran for 5 years (1989-1994) and it left the air after
Jay Leno and David Letterman emerged on TV. The hope is Hall can make magic
twice. According to the article, “his station lineup will also initially reach
only about half the homes in the country”. “Initially” sounds like his show
will be coming to a small lineup and picking up more networks if the ratings
are good. His previous audience and fans of his performance on “Celebrity
Apprentice” might watch. The trick will be seeing what Hall and “partners” have
planned for attracting new people and competing with the current lineup of late
night hosts.
